I’ve known a few men in my life.
This is not a confession. But I think about what I love about men a lot. Yes, I’m happily married but I am forced to think about other men. It’s part of the job of writing male characters – heroes in particular.
If you made a list of the most important thing you wanted in a man what would be number one? Would he have to be good looking? Would he have to be tall? Would he have to dress nicely? How about money? How much would he have to have?
It’s funny but I have never been attracted to men in three-piece suits. That could explain why my heroes wear jeans, why they often work with their hands, why they don’t have a lot of money. I like men with callused, tanned hands. Men who can fix anything. Men who are smart and honorable. Men who live by a code. Men who love where they live and think getting to live there is worth more than money.
That’s the kind of men I love. Because of that, that’s the kind of men I write about.
