So Many Books, So Little Time…
By MSW Super Reader Toni Linenberger
Toni has been a stalwart MSW follower for years, a fabulous reader, and I was lucky enough that she’s a fan of mine! We connected on line first, then met at RomCom last year when she brought me all my books to sign! Trust me … there is NOTHING an author likes more than for a reader to approach them with their well-read books for a signature. Toni has helped me proof my website, offered to help with my street team when I finally get my act together, and has been an all-around terrific person. Sometimes, when I meet a reader for the first time after having an on-line friendship, I worry that the person is a stalker/serial killer/whacko. I was not only thrilled that Toni was none of the above, but that she’s also very smart and very normal 🙂
Because I’m traveling to Thrillerfest, she’s blogging for me today! About what? BOOKS of course!
For most authors conference season is in full swing. Several of the major author focused conferences are still to occur later this summer. I was fortunate enough to attend RT and RomCon again this year. As my TBR pile is continuing to take over my house, I think it is probably good that my conference season is over. I did come home with lots of great books I can’t wait to read. Here are a few that are moving slowly up my TBR pile.
I tell people I don’t lead a glamorous life … because I don’t. I write full-time, I watch a lot of television, I have five kids to chauffeur around, and I ultimately live vicariously through my characters.
I brought my lone copy of DEAD HEAT with me so you can see how boring I am.
I’ll start on Thursday, because Thursday was my daughter Mary’s last softball game for the season. It was also Kelly’s last day of high school — she graduates this week. And I finished the revisions to COMPULSION Thursday afternoon, which was a great feeling. Especially since it was One Day Early. Whoot!
At Mary’s softball game, my book got to meet my neighbor, Mary’s assistant coach:
Because it was the last softball game, my mom Claudia made the trip down from Folsom — about a 30 minute drive.
In anticipation of Tuesday’s release of DEAD HEAT, the eighth Lucy Kincaid thriller, I thought you would enjoy a free read! Originally published two years ago in LOVE IS MURDER, an anthology of romantic suspense edited by Sandra Brown for the International Thriller Writers, “Vacation Interrupted” is a Lucy/Sean short story that takes place between SILENCED and STALKED. As fans of this series know, Lucy and Sean can’t relax anywhere without getting wrapped up in a mystery …
In 25 days DEAD HEAT will be available wherever books are sold. Yeah! I’m very excited about the eighth book in the Lucy Kincaid series.
It’s Friday, and I have nothing more to say (actually, I have a LOT to say, but it would be rants, so I’m going to be good and keep my mouth shut!)
For the weekend, I wanted to remind you that I have TWO free stories posted here on my blog. “Her Lucky Day” which was originally published in the Horror Writers Association anthology BLOOD LITE II: OVERBITE and “Killing Justice” which was originally published in KILLER YEAR edited by Lee Child, and is now available in my 3 story anthology by the same name. And at the end of the month, right before DEAD HEAT hits stores, I’ll be posting “Vacation Interrupted”, the Lucy Kincaid short story that was originally published in LOVE IS MURDER edited by Sandra Brown. So stay tuned!
Enjoy the freebies if you haven’t read them before, and have a wonderful weekend. To all the mothers out there … Happy Mother’s Day! I’ll be traveling all day Monday because I’m going to the Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention in New Orleans.
