It’s true. I’m an exercise equipment junkie.
I’ve never seen a piece of equipment that I didn’t think I would use.
The crazy thing is that I love the idea of physical activity. I love that feeling of wonderfully aching muscles and knowing that I Just Did It!
The problem is that I never seem to find the time. Between deadlines and tomatoes that need to be canned, clothes to be washed, blogs to be written, food to be cooked, quilts to be quilted, cleaning to be done…the day disappears.
I know. If I was serious, I would make time. Exercise is important, more important they now say than anything else you can do to stay healthy. I totally agree. Why do you think I keep buying exercise equipment?
Last night I saw the ultimate machine – something perfect for the end of the day when I am brain-dead, too tired-to-actually-really-exercise. It’s called a Cardio Tramp Rebounder.
Imagine lying down on a platform with wheels on two rails. At your feet is a small vertical trampoline. Yep, you get the picture. You slide down, hit the tramp with your feet and fly back up to the top of the rail. Again. Wheee!!
You have to admit, there is some cool exercise equipment out there. All these wonderful devices almost tempt us to exercise. I love it.
I used to have a mini tramp. Do they still make those? It was fun. You just jumped up and down while you watched TV.
My favorite though are the variety of sit-up machines out there. And how about that Shake Weight. Someone suggested just grabbing a couple of heavy-duty quart cans of tomato juice and shake to your heart’s desire. Not quite as cool.
I’m amazed at all the great ideas people have come up with over the years for an exercise product. I wonder if they too were looking for that Fountain of Youth through exercise and thought if they invented the perfect machine…. That’s how they came up with: Vibrating belts and chairs. Sweat belly bands. Ab crunchers. A dumbbell phone (this actually might be a good idea). Velcro shoes on a Velcro mat (love this one). And who can forget the Thigh Master?
I know what sucks me and the rest of the exercise dreamers into thinking that if I had (insert your favorite piece of exercise dream equipment), I would look like the after photos. They all give us hope that this is the one thing that will not only make us healthy, but change our bad habits. We can picture ourselves sleek and slim. All we need is that perfect exercise machine.
In the meantime, I have a deadline or two or three. But while I’ve been writing this blog, I was riding up and down on my new Cardio Tramp Rebounder. (just kidding)
