I know you guys are used to me being a little scrambled…so don’t mind this sort of random post.
I’ve worked hard. I deserve a spring break. So Thursday the fam and I are leaving for Houston for the Houston Rodeo~ The college girls are flying in too, as they are on spring break. So in addition to partaking of Texas barbecue and a jaunt to Galveston to sit on the beach — we are a looooong way from the ocean here in South Dakota — we are taking in TWO rodeo performances. I am so excited because attending this rodeo is in my top ten rodeos I’ve always wanted to go to, so I can cross it off my list.
My good friend, the fab writer Maya Banks and I are attending one performance together and I cannot wait to ogle cowboys with her, gossip, maybe swap plot secrets and brainstorm for upcoming books…don’t you wish you were in the seats behind us to get the inside scoop?
Then on Saturday, I’m meeting with 20+ members of my Lorelei James Gang for a meal and then we’re all sitting together at the rodeo — how fun that we get to experience together, what I write about and they read, huh? I cannot wait, this is the greatest group of ladies and fans in the world and I know we’ll be loud and proud. And we’ll probably be looking at some Wrangler butts and such too…even before we hit the bar 🙂
Now I don’t know if this is supposed to be super secret or not, but it’s so thrilling I can hardly contain it. One of my beloved James Gang members, Dawn G, who lives in Texas, and is the all around woman who can make anything happen, somehow, some way…got me, Lorelei James, as part of the Grand Entry into the Houston Rodeo on Saturday! How freakin’ cool is that? I get to ride in, before the performance, in a wagon (thank GOD not on a horse) and be introduced, kinda like…some dignitary or something. I am absolutely shaking in my boots, even as I’m trying to figure out which boots to wear.
So as I’m packing short sleeved shirts, preparing myself for lots of laughter, and dreaming of sun and hoping to be inspired by cowboys…tell me…what is your most memorable spring break?
