Maxine Revere has dedicated her life to investigating murders…
BREAKING POINT is out in two weeks! I’m really excited about this book for several reasons. 1) The cover. I LOVE this cover. It hits all the right spots for me.
Hi gang — first, if your comment doesn’t show up it’s because it’s in moderation. I’ve had a huge problem with spam and am trying to find
This summer I binge watched HAWAII FIVE-O (all 7 seasons) and loved it — great ensemble cast, over-the-top action, great dialogue. It was an all-around fun cop s

TWO TO DIE FOR is out this week in ebook! Yeah me! There’s a story behind these stories … and it starts with SHATTERED. SHATTERED is my fourth Maxine Rever

This blog is for my writer friends. I went back and forth for two weeks about whether to publish this blog. I could leave quietly, and that would be that … but c
See me jumping up and down? I have three of my favorite people on my blog! Not just three talented, amazing authors (who write about murder — double great!) but
My first book THE PREY was released on December 27, 2005 and my 30th book, MAKE THEM PAY, will be released on March 7th … only 3 short weeks away. I can write an
I’m in the middle of an old Lee Child book, WITHOUT FAIL, which was his 5th or 6th or 7th Jack Reacher book. Somehow I’d missed it, but the best thing about Lee’s books is that you can read them out of order. I’m also reading THE WAKING DARK by Robin Wasserman. I bought it based solely on the description, and it’s hugely compelling. More older YA/horror … I’m only two chapters in, but hope to finish it this weekend. (Yes, I often read more than one book at a time …)
My daughter Kelly just finished PANIC by Lauren Oliver, which she reviewed for RT. I can’t give you the review … but she loved it. She’s now reading THE TAKER by Alma Katsu. The third book in the trilogy just came out, and she’s had this book for nearly 3 years because I picked up the ARC for her at a conference. She is about a quarter of the way through and says she loves it, too. So I guess I’ll have to buy the other two books for her …
So what about you? What are you reading this weekend?
As I stated two weeks ago, I was on vacation. No kids, no pets, no responsibilities. My biggest concern was finding a place to eat dinner and figuring out what to read next. I think I read six books. That seems like a low number for ten days of doing nothing, so I might be forgetting one. Two did not thrill me, so I’ll not mention them here, but the other four came through as hoped.
These are books four and five in Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles. I love this series. A book blogger recommended them to me and they’re outside of what I regularly read, but a great story is a pleasure no matter the genre.
“Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old—when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old.” Atticus can hear the Irish wolfhound’s voice inside his head. Their conversations are hilarious.
Over the last few years, television has shifted from being a Fall Premiere Event where all the shows began, and summer was the time for re-runs. That system is no more, as many networks, both network and cable, now have three premiere seasons — Fall, Winter and Summer. JUSTIFIED, for example, will start in January or February of 2014; LONGMIRE will start in May or June. This makes it a lot more fun for television addicts like me to have new and exciting programming all year round.
However, this fall has some amazing programming, and so far? The networks are delivering.
I’m behind … which isn’t a surprise because I have a book due in two weeks. But I’ll catch up!
So what have I seen, what am I most looking forward to, and what new shows do I plan to watch?
