[contest below]
I’ve just gotten home from traveling back to see the littlest munchkin g-kid, Will, and am already having withdrawals. The cuteness, it overwhelms the senses. If I could have figured out how to sneak him away from his mom and dad, I would have. Here he is, with the hiccups:
I know, I know, he is not the first baby ever born, but wow, it’s just hard not to be that proud Mimi. (We do not use the G word around here. Nor MawMaw. Maybe when I’m 80.)
Meanwhile, I’m getting my groove back, getting back into the rewrite (finally, I know), and working on the Bobbie Faye short story/novella I’ve been promising forever (yes, really, finally, swearsies). I’ve realized I had essentially not written much for these last few months, what with the illnesses and traveling, and it was fine… and, honestly, the time away did me some good. But now, I’m eager to get to the pages every day, and while I sometimes feel a little rusty, at other times, things just are clicking into place in a way that only time and distance could have given me. It’s a tradeoff, and so far, so good
I’m also trying to get into the Christmas spirit, so that’s where you come in, if you don’t mind. I keep finding great videos that make me smile:
“Silent Monks ‘sing’ Hallelujah”
Or this one from last year, where a flash mom sang the Hallelujah chorus at a mall.
I’d love some more great examples of the Christmas spirit. (Funny is a bonus.) So here’s what I thought–to celebrate the terrific books some of our MSW ladies have out this month, I’ll hold a contest today through Saturday morning. Everyone who enters with a link to a favorite video, photo, poem, blog entry–*anything* Christmassy–will be entered for a chance to win all four of our current releases: Rocki’s SPACE IN HIS HEART, Deb’s OBSESSION, and Allison’s IF I SHOULD DIE, PLUS a $15 gift card from the online bookstore of your choice. There will be five winners, so send me links! [Winners will be announced Sunday, so check back for our announcement to see if you've won.]

I just discovered the Glee version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas.” I really love the original by Band Aid, but the Glee version is pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7mFeOs5pBw
Love it!
I loved the silent monks video. An old but fun one is Straight No Chaser’s 12 Days of Christmas (there may be a better version of it somewhere on the internet):

I don’t have anything Chrismassy, but you can count me out of the contest!!! I already have Rocki’s and Allison’s releases (bought first day!!!) and I’ll be more than thrilled to get Bobbie Faye’s novella when it’s out, too (was that the 5th??), which is sooooo exciting!!! Just wanted to comment on Willcheeks and his total cuteness!
Um, I may be a little too excited tonight… um, errr.
I cracked up on Willcheeks. That is so going to be his nickname when he grows up.

This made me giggle!
cracking up — and that is exactly why I’d never get a tattoo… the horrifying thought of what it’ll look like 20 years from now.
It isn’t Christmas until I see this. Brings back memories of childhood.

Three Decembers ago, a lovely green Eastern Gray Tree Frog decided to spend the winter in my home — I’ve made a CD and a little book of his visit. Short version here

The hiccups make me smile every time I watch it! Mimi. Love it.
Aww new babies are so exciting and cute!
I’m a sucker for Christmas, I love everything about it! Especially the music. Once you hear the music, the Christmasy feeling just spreads! One of my favourites, besides Harry Connick Jr., is my Canadian homeboy Michael Buble. He just put out a new Christmas CD that is SO good!

A great holiday memory I have, is my sister and I driving our mom INSANE humming my favourite Christmas song-Carol of the Bells!

Your grandbaby is soooo cute, Toni! You already have your Christmas present.
Aw, thanks, Silver–I’m pretty partial to the g-kid, too.

and this one makes me smile every time I watch it — the link is for “you tube stars” so you have to scroll down to the fifth screen on the page –and it’s 7 year old Rhema Marvanne singing several verses of “O Holy Night” and she’s simply amazing!
enjoy!

OMG, he is adorable. I want one!! Every time I say that husband says, “Tubes. Tied. Remember?”
I love being Nana.
Christmas is almost here. I feel overwhelmed with all that is left to do. Decorating the tree today because people are coming over for daughter’s birthday tomorrow and it would look silly with a tree with no decorations. LOL
Cute baby, Mimi!
My favorite Christmas movie of all time is Charlie Brown Christmas. A close second is the original cartoon Grinch.
i always have some favorite silly Christmas songs i love.

That baby is adorable! So glad you’re back! (but call me and we’ll devise a way to get that baby)
You’re on!
What puts me in the holday spirit and visually signal its arrival is the the bright lights. I would love to visit or see my neighbourhood all decked out.

Here is a pic of my writing buddy, Cooper, getting into the Christmas spirit.
Cooper With A Bow
My g-kids are 6 and 3. I miss the little stage your grandchild is at now but 6 and 3 are great. When they see me they are so excited and come running. It is a wonderful feeling. Sorry don’t have a video clip, but happy holidays anyway.
Nothing says Christmas like my (well, technically my mum’s/parents’) dog with his light-up reindeer antlers and tiny Santa hat. Clearly, he loves them
. [It's great fun watching him try to get them off immediately... and yet we put them on every Christmas. Poor Ivy. Yes, his name is Ivy... don't ask]
Umm, I guess it helps if I actually link to the picture of Ivy with his antlers…

Love the Christmas lights in sync with music! Someday I’ll have enough time and money to do it to my house.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
