The next book in my Mercy Gunderson series, MERCY KILL, releases next Tuesday 1-11-11 — and I’m giving you all a chance to win it before you can buy it! Ooh, and guess what? It got a starred review in Library Journal!

“With a gutsy heroine, sharp humor, and a strong sense of place, Armstrong has created a winning series (No Mercy). The female veteran perspective is particularly fresh…Highly recommended
— Library Journal, starred review

AND THE BLURB:

—Former Black Ops Army sniper, Mercy Gunderson isn’t adjusting well to the laid-back rhythm of civilian life on her family’s ranch in South Dakota. To fill her time, Mercy accepts a temporary bartending gig at a local watering hole. Yet her attempts to settle in back home are tested when Titan Oil, a Canadian company proposing to run an underground pipeline through Eagle River County, sends Jason Hawley, Mercy’s former Army buddy to the area to convince ranchers to get behind the project.

While local business owners support the pipeline, Hawley’s presence riles the landowners and Mercy is torn. After ugly threats and multiple altercations escalate tensions in the county, Mercy discovers Hawley’s brutally mutilated body in the bar parking lot. When it appears Sheriff Dawson cares more about campaigning for re-election than investigating the case, Mercy vows to find Jason Hawley’s killer—even if she has to run against Dawson for sheriff to ensure justice is served.

But Mercy soon learns her former military pal had plenty of secrets. Her search for the truth brings unwanted exposure to the county’s dark side and risks deadly repercussions for the entire community.–

The thing I’m most looking forward to this month is the Black Hills Stock Show. Don’t know what day we’ll be down, but I’ve got to go at least one day. Love to sign up for all the chances to win and I ususally do win something! Congrats on the new release!!!

  5. 5

  7. 7

What I am looking most forward to this month is finally finishing my exam paper after having been sick over Christmas and New Year ’cause then I’ll be able to kick back and read Mercy Kill :o )

  8. 8

Congrats on the new release, haven’t read your mysteries yet, but are on my list for this year to start. Looking forward to most this month, is for the month to be over with, January is a really bad business month for me so the faster it goes the better for me.

  9. 9

Thanks for the link. This is the first time I’ve seen the blurb. I need something good to read over the winter. Thx Lori.

  10. 10

Can’t wait to have a new series to read!

TOMISSA!!!!!! Woman, how are you? Isn’t it crazy, how we can connect online after not seeing each other for years??

Great to hear from you and I’m thrilled you’re reading the books — your boys love to have me sign them for you :)

  11. 11

Reading Mercy Kill, teenage daughters club Vball team to play, seeing Slash, Linkin Park & Kid Rock, and then rereading Mercy Kill again. Thanks L, keep them coming. Your female characters are always so much fun to read.

  12. 12

Congratulations on Mercy Kill. I am looking forward to spending time with my sister who I rarely get to see.

  13. 13

    Lori,
I am so so so excited for Mercy Kill to come out! I’ve been dying to read it. You’re an amazing author, keep em comin!

  14. 14

Mercy’s going to be awesome….i think what i’m looking forward to the most is just getting back to my routine. If I am forced to eat one more forkful of buttery potatoes I think it’s going to be the end of me!!

  15. 15

It will be interesting to see how Mercy picks herself up after the upheaval in her life at the end of the last book.

I’m looking forward to be on the quarterly “advisory panel” for the first time for a chain sandwich restaurant. I get to eat their food, talk about it and get a gift card for more food. Throw in a book discussion and it would be perfect.

  16. 16

Looking forward to Mercy Kill of course, but also looking forward to the days starting to get longer, the light remaining into the early evening as we move toward spring. And, by the end of January I can let go of all those half-assed New Year’s resolutions I’ve already broken (oops, yes, that is a smear of chocolate at the corner of my mouth…)

  17. 17

Fantastic cover!!!!! Can’t wait to read this one!

  18. 18

I am so far behind, I had no idea you wrote mysteries! Heading to the book store for “No Mercy” because I know I won’t be disappointed! I must have missed it on your Lorelei James website about your alter ego. Thanks!

I am most looking forward to the 103yo Grandma settling into her new place. After 50yrs in the same house, and not! wanting to move, it wasn’t safe for her to live alone. She’s now in assisted living and I’m counting the days until she adjusts and quits with the crankiness-and yes, she deserves to be a little cranky. I’m just done with the “lot of” cranky =)

    Book cover is beautiful!!!

    • 64.1

Thanks Catherine, and good luck with the 103 year old.
