First off, I’ll admit I’m totally scatterbrained right now, and this post will be…umm…pretty random.
I’m home after spending 24 of the last 30 days on the road. The No Mercy book tour went great, and I am happy I got to connect with so many readers, booksellers, friends, etc. I have a new appreciation for those people who have to travel for their jobs all the time, not just once in a while. A different airport, a different hotel room every night, dining alone, having the dedication to actually use the gym in the hotel, instead of just passing by it like I did.
Now I’m struggling to catch up. By my estimation I’m…24 days behind. Oh sure, I tried to work, and actually got some writing done. But I’m a creature of habit. I like my writing area. I like being alone in silence. I like being in my house, sprawled in my comfy chair with my feet up. I’m productive when I can shut off my main computer and head upstairs to my crappy laptop without distractions of the internet. I don’t have a crackberry; I travel with a netbook to check my email. (Don’t ask me how much online shopping I did late at night when I couldn’t sleep due to lumpy or hard mattresses, but I have a couple of pairs of nifty new cowgirl boots.) So what was the first thing I did upon my return? Tackle my piles of laundry? Organize the mountain of mail on the dining room table? Shine my new boots? Nope.
I hunkered down in the recliner with a bowl of popcorn and watched the first episode of LOST. Then daughter #3 and I watched The Vampire Diaries. Followed by a family viewing of new episodes of Burn Notice and White Collar. I’m holding back on watching Supernatural because I have to have something to look forward to. I also read magazines I missed, including the issue of Entertainment Weekly that lists the Oscar nominations. I think I’m the only person on the planet who hasn’t seen Avatar. I’m trying to squeeze that in this weekend.
I’ll admit my taste in movies is a bit lowbrow. I’d rather laugh than cry. I’m more interested in watching stuff get blown up than getting my guts torn out by a movie that shows the hopelessness of the human condition. For me, movies aren’t art, but entertainment. Yes, they can be art, but that isn’t the main appeal for me. Hunky half-naked guys ranks right up there too. Funny, hunky half-naked guys in cowboys hats? Even better
So, let’s share our favorite movie lines on this cold Wednesday morning! (Told ya this post would be random) Here’s a couple that popped into my head:
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball — Dodgeball
Fetch is so not happening, Gretchen — Mean Girls
The life of a repo man is always intense — Repo Man
There’s a tiger in the bathroom (the exact language has been slightly modified <g>) — The Hangover
And for your willingness to play along today, a random commenter will win a signed copy of the highly entertaining Lorelei James Rough Riders book – Long Hard Ride.
Ready, Set, Go!

Dodgeball, huh? Yeah, that’d be lowbrow. A family favorite, too. “I’m just spitballin’ here.” I have raised a daughter who openly admits her comfort movie of choice is SPACEBALLS. Sadly, this happened when she was five.
And the LOST season opener rocked, didn’t it? I. Love. That. Show. xo
by Roxanne St. Claire February 10th, 2010 at 10:13 amI’ve passed the lowbrow movie love on to my daughters too – so don’t feel alone Rocki
Lost. Best. TV. Show. EVER. I cannot wait to see how it all ties together. It’s been a five year masterclass in amazing writing, plot, characterization…I’ve loved every bit. Even the episode with the unknown couple everyone else hated.
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 10:40 amROFLMAO! You are all over the place today. I’m not entering the contest, but here’s one for you.
“Ty, you can’t go round robbing stores now. We’s a family.”
Holly Hunter telling Nicholas Cage this in Raising Arizona. Love that movie.
“This town needs a enima” – Jack Nicholson in Batman – the original with Michael O’keefe.
“Have you ever danced with the Devil by the pale moonlight” – Jack – Batman
That’s just a few. Thanks for the laugh this morning.
by J. Hunter February 10th, 2010 at 10:22 amYou’re welcome, Dr. J – another line from that movie – “Go up there and get me that baby.”
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 10:41 amLori, glad you’re home! I know the book tour was exhausting yet exhilarating! One of my fav lines from one of my fav movies is: “I never did one thing right in my life, you know that? Not one. That takes skill.” This from my man Samuel L. Jackson in Long Kiss Goodnight!
by Debra Webb February 10th, 2010 at 10:27 amThanks Debra – I also love the line “I’m a chef!” when amnesiac Gena Davis starts madly chopping stuff with a knife — and then we discover she’s been an assassin
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 10:37 amWelcome home! I’ve had hodge-podge days, too . . .
I’m going to get this wrong, but one of my favorite lines is:
“Sooner or later you’re going to realize that there’s a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.” Morpheus to Neo in THE MATRIX
by Allison Brennan February 10th, 2010 at 10:36 amHey, Allison, I saw your new book all over the place in my travels
Now why didn’t I remember that kick ass line from The Matrix?
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 10:44 amOh, I missed Lost last night.
When I was a teen, I watched the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie way too often to be normal. I still love it!
“Great. My secret weapon is PMS. That’s just terrific. Thanks for telling me.” Buffy
by Becky LeJeune February 10th, 2010 at 10:53 amBecky,
I DVR’d LOST so I haven’t watched it either.
They took that whole PMS thing out of the Buffy TV series, oddly enough
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 12:04 pmHi, Lori,
Had to comment with one of my favorite lines:
“You can bend the rules plenty once you get to the top, but not while you’re trying to get there. And if you’re someone like me, you can’t get there without bending the rules.”
Tess McGill from Working Girl, one of my favorite movies.
Abbi
by Abbi Cantrell February 10th, 2010 at 11:04 amThanks for the reminder, Abbi, I didn’t remember that quote…
I love that everyone has come up with something different!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 12:03 pmHold on tight spidermonkey! -Twilight
This quote made me cringe… and my husband was cringing through the entire movie!
by Miranda February 10th, 2010 at 11:35 amMiranda,
That made me cringe a little too – but I did like it when they were up in the trees looking at the view.
The line reminded me of The Simpsons – Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does – another line that makes me laugh…
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 12:05 pmHi Lori!
welcome home! I can’t even imagine travelling such a long time…
oh, I saw Avatar, but for me it wasn’t that special *sigh*
and here’s my favorite quote: “I feel the need…” — “…the need for speed!” Top Gun *dreaming*
by Ina February 10th, 2010 at 11:42 amhugs, Ina
Ina, Top Gun is one of those movies I get sucked in to watching every time it’s on…
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 12:07 pmHodgepodge is my name..just come to my house to see what an assortment of stuff I have. I can’t believe how many of my favorite writers have more than one name.
by zina February 10th, 2010 at 11:46 amAnyway we are on our first family vaca in 18 years. We’ve escaped the snow of New England and are in Ga. and Fla for 2 weeks.
Zina
Zina, yes, somedays I don’t remember who I’m supposed to be, depending on what I’m writing.
Enjoy your vacation!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 12:08 pmHi Lori
John Wayne was always a fav of my moms. Can’t tell you how many times I’d seen
Big Jake before I was 16.
For my Mom–
Maureen O’Hara to John Wayne in Big Jake
“I was wrong, Jacob McCandells, you haven’t changed”
John Wayne–”Not one damn bit”
Love it!!!!!
Catherine
by Catherine February 10th, 2010 at 12:18 pmCatherine – I haven’t seen Big Jake
I also loved them in McClintock when he chases her down the street, picks her up and throws her over his shoulder.
Sigh.
Big strong cowboys. Can’t ever get enough of them.
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 12:30 pmLori
If you haven’t seen El Dorado yet, check that out too. Some great lines with Robert Mitchum and James Caan!!
Catherine
by Catherine February 10th, 2010 at 7:33 pmCatherine – I went on a western buying binge – those poor DVD boxes are staring me in the face, accusingly, but I swear I’ll get to them all now that I”m home!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:53 pmRocki, Spaceballs is a big fave in our house, too. My sons quote it incessantly. I imagine you did the same thing as we did, thinking “That was such a funny movie. I don’t remember it being terribly raunchy.” Uh… oops.
As for a movie line frequently heard around our house usually happens when one of the teenagers is mumbling. From Airplane (to continue with the lowbrow) “Excuse me. I speak Jive.”
by Lori February 10th, 2010 at 12:33 pmI loved all the Airplane movies! When things are dicey, my hubby and I always say “Picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.”
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:03 pmOne of my favorite lines is from The Replacements with Keanu and Gene Hackman:
Jimmy McGinty: “I look at you and I see two men: the man you are, and the man you ought to be. Someday those two will meet. Should make for a hell of a football player.”
by Cathy M February 10th, 2010 at 12:33 pmCathy, should I be ashamed I’ve never seen that movie.
Oh wait, is it highbrow?
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:04 pmi think we need abigger boat- jaws
you saved my shoe – the wedding planner
nice quotes
by kh February 10th, 2010 at 12:36 pmKh – You guys are testing me today, why don’t I remember that…you saved my shoe line?
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:05 pmMy favorite movie lines are:
by CrystalGB February 10th, 2010 at 1:23 pmYou can’t handle the truth. -A Few Good Men
Suck my %&*$ Master Chief!-G.I. Jane
Yes, Crystal, that GI Jane line is a fave of the 17 year olds…and yes…she’s a girl, which is why I laugh every damn time even when I shouldn’t. I know. Bad mommy.
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:06 pmFrankly my dear, I don’t give a dam.. Rhett in Gone with the Wind
I will never go hungry again. Scarlett from Gond With the Wind
Do you feel lucky? Clint Eastwood but forgot the name of movie..LOL (Old timers memory)
You want a piece of me? Can’t remember who or what movie.
Ditto, Patrick Swazey, Ghost
You talking to me? Can’t remember (sorry old timers is bad today)
Guess that’s it since my mind has deserted me..Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
by Brenda B. Hill February 10th, 2010 at 1:27 pmBrenda–
by GSM February 10th, 2010 at 2:07 pmClint Eastwood quote is from “Dirty Harry.”
“You Want a piece of me?” is Dustin Hoffman in “Midnight Cowboy.”
“You talking to me?” is Robert DiNiro in “Taxi Driver.”
Good quotes!
Ah, the classics – thanks for those
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:07 pmHi Lori,
I love your work. I’m glad the tour went well.
My fav off the top of my head would be from Employee of the Month: “its a ’84 honda; how dare you?”
I don’t know why but it makes laugh everytime.
by Yvonne February 10th, 2010 at 1:46 pmThanks for popping by, Yvonne, glad you like the books
I am happy to be home from tour.
And once again, I don’t recognize the movie, which just shows how little I get out…even to the video store – wait, they still have video stores, right?
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:08 pmFun topic! Some of my favorite movie quotes are:
“Hold on to your seats. It’s going to be a very bumpy night.”—All About Eve (Bette Davis)
“This could be the start of a beautiful friendship.”—Casablanca (Humphrey Bogart to Claude Rains)
“I’m gonna make you an offer you can’t refuse.”—The Godfather (Marlon Brando)
“What we have here is a failure to communicate.”—Cool Hand Luke (Strother Martin to Paul Newman)
by GSM February 10th, 2010 at 2:05 pmMore classics, GSM
I was drawing a blank when trying to think of some this morning — but it was before my coffee!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:10 pmI think Dodgeball may have more quotables per minute than any other movie – that or Anchorman. I don’t even care for funny movies (I’m kinda like your opposite Lori, I love to have my guts ripped up at the movies, I’m the only person I know who loved There Will Be Blood) – and yet I just can’t get enough of those!!
Hey, welcome home, that sounds grueling, and yet you kept a positive attitude! Some day I hope I’ll need you to teach me how that’s done.
by sophie littlefield February 10th, 2010 at 2:32 pmSophie, is that movie the one where Daniel Day Lewis says something about “I will drink your milkshake?”
You’ll be giving *me* advice soon, Ms. Edgar nominee
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:12 pmExcalibur (John Boorman’s~1981)
Morganna to Merlin in the crystal cave
“You’re nothing. You’re not a god or a man. I will find a man and give birth to a god..”
Merlin to Arthur & his knights…
“For it is the doom of men that they forget.”
Finally the scene where Merlin’s spirit taunts Morgana into using the charm of making right before the final battle…I love that actors portrayal of Merlin. The inflections, facial expressions…excellent. Can you tell this is my all time favorite movie?
I agree on the entertainment factor. I don’t want to be preached @ or lectured to, just entertain me….
Ivy
by Ivy February 10th, 2010 at 2:48 pmIvy – isn’t it great how different movies resonate? One of my all times faves that might surprise people? True Lies – damn, only Arnold can detonate an atomic bomb and have it be cool, not horrifying
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:14 pmLori,
by Ivy February 10th, 2010 at 4:33 pmThat movie was fun! The scene where JLC is trying to be sexy dancing around the bed post (not knowing it’s her hubby?) & then falls…that’s so me trying to be sexy. I just can’t, for the life of me, do it! LOL
I loved the part where she ripped the ruffles off the prissy dress and went from frumpy to vavoom –
And where the guy from Big Love says – “Give me a break, I have a really little —-”
See? I’m coming up with more lines all day!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 6:19 pmI may have to dig that out & watch it now…
by Ivy February 10th, 2010 at 7:13 pmYour brain is functioning wayyy better than mine is this evening. You have a great one & glad you get to be home now..traveling can be really rough.
“He used to be a dick, but he’s not a dick anymore.” —from The Postman Always Rings Twice, 1946.
“You know, people envy us!”
“I envy us.”
“`This is Spinal Tap
Racecar driver Jean Girard: “Do you know why I came to America, Rickie Boebby?”
Ricky Bobby: “Health care systems, giant water parks. The same reason anyone comes to America.”
—Talladega Nights
“You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You put your lips together… and blow.”
—Lauren Bacall “To Have to Have Not.”
by jake February 10th, 2010 at 3:17 pmJake,
I love Will Ferrell, but for some reason the only lines that came to me this morning were:
“We’re goin’ streakin’” Old School –
“And that, my friend, is how babies are made” Blades of Glory
You are much classier than me!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:16 pmTo Have And Have Not- Walter Brennan asks : Was you ever stung by a bee?
by Leni February 10th, 2010 at 3:57 pmGoodfellas-Lorraine Bracco’s mother screams: What kind of people are these!
The Rules Of The Game- a male servers answer to everything is: Have a potato.
Been a long time since I’ve seen Goodfellas, and I don’t know if I’ve ever seen The Rules of The Game, so I’m getting an education today, thanks for sharing, Leni.
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:17 pmHey Lori, glad you’re home! I’m not a good traveler so I feel for you.
I really enjoy lowbrow movies! With a husband and three sons–how can I not? That tiger in the bathroom scene was hysterical
But what really got me was WHO the tiger belonged too. I had no idea he was in the movie, so I was surprised!
by Jen Lyon February 10th, 2010 at 4:07 pmJen,
It’s been a long time since I laughed that hard at a movie. A long time.
I will say the hardest I ever laughed in a theater, almost to the point of embarrassment, was when I saw “There’s Something About Mary” — so many sight gags in that one, and I”m not huge on slapstick but I nearly fell off my chair in some spots…
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 4:19 pmGlad u are home, you missed alot of shitty weather, but I’m sure your happy about that!
The last time I attended a movie was to watch “Wooly Boys” which was filmed in North Dakota, and that was several years ago. So u can tell, I don’t go often. The movie before that was “Horse Whisperer”. It’s been a longgg time between movies, at a theatre. Of course, as you can tell, they both had cowboys and horses in them.LOL.
by Tiss Treib February 10th, 2010 at 4:52 pmDon’t watch them on TV either, so I dont have a witty comment or movie line for you. Have you seen either of theses movies?
Tiss, it’s been a long time since I saw the Horse Whisperer, and Wooly boys isn’t ringing a bell…is it about sheep shearers? I couldn’t resist.
It’s a balmy 30 degrees in Rapid today
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 6:04 pmYes, there are sheep in the movie, but not nessesarly about sheep, it is about, well, I should just get u the DVD. It was filmed near Medora in the badlands and has a horse and two old sheep herders in it. Good story, but nothing great. We went because in was filmed near here.
by tiss February 10th, 2010 at 8:45 pmMy lowbrow favorite movie is Galaxy Quest, and one we frequently quote:
“Never give up, never surrender.”
“Man, they’re gonna start eating each other out there.”
(said in any crowd, anywhere, especially with family)
and my all time favorite, whenever anything is going wrong:
“Whoever wrote this episode should die.”
I haven’t ever watched a single episode of Lost. I kept meaning to, but didn’t. It’ll go on my Netflix rentals.
I am right now hooked completely on LIFE — a fantastic TV show that NBC stupidly canceled… it’s available on HULU for free through Sept. 19th. Really well written, terrific acting, and the damned writers keep ending on a hook and I think, “Well, just one more episode tonight won’t hurt.”
So glad your trip went so well! But glad you’re home and able to get back to work.
by toni mcgee causey February 10th, 2010 at 5:15 pmMy husband is not a LOST fan either, but I’m making him watch it when all 6 seasons are done, since I own the first 5 seasons. I know you’d love it.
One bad line I just remembered? From the horrible movie Dungeons and Dragons – the usually fabulous Jeremy Irons says: “You thieves, always taking what doesn’t belong to you.”
Seriously.
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 6:08 pmWelcome back! You are not the only person on the planet who hasn’t seen Avatar. The last movie I saw that wasn’t animated was (if I can even remember right) The Hangover. I laughed until I cried, BTW.
by Laura Griffin February 10th, 2010 at 5:24 pmOh, I haven’t seen Avatar, either.
And I keep hearing everyone talk about how funny THE HANGOVER was… must rent.
by toni mcgee causey February 10th, 2010 at 5:30 pmToni, darlin’, are we living parallel lives? Margie Lawson said last week that my hubby reminded her of *your* hubby -
Yes, I’m getting back to work. Sigh.
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 6:10 pmMy family is trying to convince me to see Avatar in 3D – I’m not convinced.
We used to see every animated film that came down the pike when the girls were little – but not so much any more, I haven’t seen Up or The Princess and The Frog
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 6:09 pmHi L, you continue to amaze me and tire me with all of the things you accomplish. You are truly an inspiration. Are the Vampire Diaries good? I think those are in book form right?? I need to find something else for my daughter to read while she waits for the 3rd Twilight movie to come out instead of re-reading those books which i think she’s done multiple times. Waiting patiently for you next of course, lots of love….krista
by Krista Plott February 10th, 2010 at 5:46 pmYes, Krista, The Vampire Diaries are a series – my 13 yr old has read them. The strange thing is they were originally published in the early 1990′s, and the series was dropped. Then with Twilight and True Blood, the author got another contract or two, so there will be new books…later this year I think.
My daughter loves PC Cast. Richelle Mead. I’m drawing a blank for more, but those are her faves for YA vamp fiction.
Thanks for stopping by and being home is energizing me
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 6:23 pmMy 13 nearly 14 year old is an avid reader. She read the Twilight books–doesn’t like the hype. Has not read the Vampire Diaries (she’s not as into vampires anymore) but loves Maggie Stiefvater (who had two books with a small press that Kelly loved–BALLAD and LAMENT. She said that SHIVER was really good but started slow, and she said that Stiefvater was “a better writer thank this” in her first two books. She’s read the PC Cast books but stopped at 5 or 6 and won’t read anymore. She loves Alyson Noel’s series. Kelley Armstrong is a new favorite (she just got an ARC to review for RT) and she loves Neal Shusterman. For more romance she recommends Sarah Dessen. She loves Dia Reeves debut novel BLEEDING VIOLET and told me if I was only going to read one YA novel this year, it should be that one.
by Allison Brennan February 11th, 2010 at 12:25 amAllison, I was going to mention your daughter and her “job” with RT — my daughter is very jealous!
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 10:19 amI totally agree about movies I havent seen avatar and probably wont be watching it either I dont like sappy movies as mucha s i like action packed gory movies gimme a horror film and im in heaven I love love supernatural and just today i caught up on vampire diaries. This weekend is gonnabe another slow boring one but eh boring is good cant be too boring theres 5 kids who live here most under the age of 10
Im glad your trip went welll and that your home safe and sound
by Beverly G February 10th, 2010 at 5:48 pmBeverly, I’m not much of a horror fan — weird because I can write some pretty horrific stuff — but seeing it on the screen makes me squeamish.
Yes, I love me some Sammy and Dean – from Supernatural. I’m a latecomer to the show, but it’s moved into my top 5 shows of all time…
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 6:12 pmlol i didnt come to the Dean and sam party till last year and im a total addict . I havent watched many eppisodes of lost tho not sure why network change sprobably then i stopped watching alot of tv besides a few shows
by Beverly G February 11th, 2010 at 12:04 amBeverly,
Lost is one of those shows you *have* to watch from the beginning, or you’ll be…Lost. I hate watching it with my husband or my middle daughter because they have no clue about what’s going on and they get snarky…
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 10:17 amI don’t watch to many movies anymore but my all time favorite movie line would have to be Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn. Then there is one more from Bull Durham when Kevin Costner says “I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.”
by Quilt Lady February 10th, 2010 at 8:16 pmThis is one great line.
Ooh, that Kevin Costner line was the only thing I liked about that movie — he’s got memoribilia at his restaurant/gaming facility up in Deadwood from it
Thanks for the reminder!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:44 pmHi love love your books!!!! I so wish that authors came closer to where I live. LOL I always miss out on them. Oh well. Thanksfully most of you all have blogs and great websites. Love yours. Glad you made it home okay. Almost got all of your Rough Riders series. Just need last two e-book ones. I hope all jacked up and strong silent goes into print form I like ebooks but when I really like a series I like having print versions. Thanks for the contest and the FAB. BOOKS
by Foretta February 10th, 2010 at 8:57 pmForetta,
Thanks for saying how much you love the books! Yay! Where do you live? Cause you never know where I’ll end up
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:45 pmLove your books. Thanks for the contest
by Patti February 10th, 2010 at 8:58 pmPatti, happy to hear you like the books and thanks for commenting
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:45 pmHi I just wanted to say that your books are wonderful. Funny and full of love. Can not wait for more.
by Carolyn February 10th, 2010 at 8:59 pmAw, Carolyn, thank you – I’m glad the books are entertaining!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:46 pmNot really into Lost but obsessed with Idol. Even more so now that Ellen is on it.
by Tammy February 10th, 2010 at 9:00 pmThank you for contest
Tammy,
American Idol is one show I’ve never watched — just bits and pieces…
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:46 pmI do not watch a lot of tv but I love to read. You are one of my top 10 favorites. So glad I found you books. Happy writing. Wish I could give you magic boost to write faster. LOL.
by Terri February 10th, 2010 at 9:02 pmTop Ten, Terri? YAY! I’m honored, thank you.
I’m writing as fast as I can…I promise
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:47 pmI haven’t seen Avatar either.
Nut up or shut up – Zombieland
by Jill James February 10th, 2010 at 9:53 pmI haven’t seen Zombieland but I heard Woody Harrelson is great in it…does he say that line?
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:48 pmYeah, that is Woody’s line to the wuzzy kid. You wonder how he survived the zombies so far.
by Jill James February 11th, 2010 at 3:14 pmNow I’m really interested to see Avatar after Allison’s comments about what she didn’t like about it because she’s usually dead on…
I wonder if her family doesn’t like to watch TV with her sometimes either
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 7:19 pmI lI I like all kinds of movies but one of my favorite lines is “You bloodied up my knife you dog by Harry Connick Jr. in Copycat.
by Linda Henderson February 10th, 2010 at 11:35 pmI don’t see my man Harry as a killer…just a crooner, which is probably why I haven’t seen Copycat!
by Lori Armstrong February 10th, 2010 at 11:49 pm“I don’t nothin’, ’bout birthin’ babies!”
by Karin Tabke February 11th, 2010 at 4:13 amKarin,
There are so many great lines from Gone With The Wind — I can never pick just one!
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 10:16 amMy youngest daughter was discussing Zombieland with me last night. The following is the one that stood out.
by Andrea I February 11th, 2010 at 10:41 amWhen the zombie outbreak first hit, the first to go for obivious reasons, were the fatties. As I had not watched it yet, my question was why. They were the slower runners.
I don’t go to the movies and only occasionally watch one on demand or from Netflixs. I spend most of my free time reading.
That makes sense, that the fatties and the slow ones are eaten first.

February 11th, 2010 at 11:33 amYou sound so much like me… i work from home, in my comfy chair, feet up, jammies on… my husband thinks I suck, but hey, someone’s gotta do it. I haven’t read your new mystery yet, but a big fan of the Rough Riders series. Since I do love mysteries, will need to pick it up!! As for movie lines, i’ve seen SO many, have SO many favorites, so let’s see…
“What do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze? Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in a Catwoman suit? Don’t you worry you pretty striped head, we’re gonna take you back to Tyson’s and your cozy tiger bed. And then were gonna find our best friend Doug, and then we’re gonna give him a best friend hug. Doug, Doug, oh Doug, Dougie Dougie Doug, Doug…But if he’s been murdered by crystal meth tweakers….Well, then we’re shit outta luck!” The Hangover
“What are you doing? It’s a game of touch football, every time I look over you’re on your ass again.” Wedding Crashers
by Cami Paulson February 11th, 2010 at 12:28 pmI loved Wedding Crashers too — I LOVE me some Vince Vaughn, sigh.
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 7:11 pmThis is my all-time favorite ever: “Regrets are a waste of time. They’re the past crippling you in the present.” – Under the Tuscan Sun
by Jessica February 11th, 2010 at 12:54 pmOoh, that one is awesome. Seriously awesome, Jessica, thanks for sharing!
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 7:17 pmI’ve been hearing excellent things about No Mercy (and saw the review in the WSJ! Congrats, Lori!) Glad the tour’s gone well! I’m not much of a movie watcher, so whatever the kids are watching is what is on the screen at home
So the lines that stick in my head are from the Star Wars movies–”Luke, I *am* your father;” “I love you,” to which Han replies, “I know;” “These are not the droids you are looking for…” And a couple from The Princess Bride–”As you wish…” and “Inconceivable!” “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
Mainly I read
by Fedora February 11th, 2010 at 1:45 pmThanks Fedora, and I’m thankful you’re a voracious reader
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 7:09 pmLove your books and can’t wait for the next ones to come out.

by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 7:12 pmWhat does it say that I can’t remember lines from movies, but only the music from movies? I just talked to the (very young) gal doing my hair yesterday about this topic……song came on from Garden State and she’d never heard of the movie.
I can’t remember actors/actresses names, either. Good thing I’m not entering the contest!

by Robin Lang February 11th, 2010 at 5:55 pmAnd I’m the opposite, Robin. I haven’t seen Garden State…
by Lori Armstrong February 11th, 2010 at 7:12 pmFirst thing :I love your rough riders series!! Second thing: Have you seen the new series called Human Target? It has action, A cute guy with a mysterious past, and a friend that isn’t a good guy and isn’t a bad. You should check it out.

by Sabine February 12th, 2010 at 3:32 amLines of a movie? Well on time I’m not much a movie watcher on time, my two little girls are keeping me very busy. Don’t ask me when I watched the last one from the beginning till the end, I can’t remember. I’m glad if I’ve time to read at the evenings when they’re fallen asleep. But I defintely need to watch “Dances with Wolves” anytime soon because I love it! That’s my absolutely favortie movie, don’t know how much times I saw it the last couple years….
Love your books, can’t wait for the next.
Have a great day, Sabine
Oups, I’m sorry for typing so much mistakes… well….
by Sabine February 12th, 2010 at 7:13 amSabine,
You do know that Dances With Wolves was filed here, in South Dakota, right?
by Lori Armstrong February 12th, 2010 at 9:28 amWow, really? No I didn’t know, just thought the landscape in the movie is amazing. Can’t wait to fly over anytime to make a round trip thru the whole States. Hopefully soon.
by Sabine February 12th, 2010 at 1:15 pmI fogot to tell you that I love your Rough Riders series and that my great grandfather rode with Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders in Cuba, that’s how he met my great grandmother.
by zina February 12th, 2010 at 9:05 amZina
Zina, that is so romantic and historic, how cool about your family! I’m happy you’re enjoying “my” Rough Riders — I wonder how old Teddy would feel about the titles
by Lori Armstrong February 12th, 2010 at 9:27 amSabine,
You do know that Dances With Wolves was filmed here, in South Dakota, right?
by Lori Armstrong February 12th, 2010 at 9:22 amI also am a fan on the Vampire Diaries and lots of lowbrow movies! Too many favorite quotes to mention.
by Teri February 12th, 2010 at 10:21 amI know, Teri, I came up with about 50 more when I wasn’t trying to!
by Lori Armstrong February 13th, 2010 at 9:50 amI happened to stumble across the name Lorelei James about a month ago while looking for a few new authors to read. I read Dirty Deeds and fell in love for so many reasons. First of all, I found the book captivating and sexy. Second, I used to live in SD. Third, every chance I get (several times a summer) we still roll the top down or break out the bike and travel Spearfish Canyon and I can feel at peace. It was neat to be reading and think to myself, “I know where that is!” Ok, I’m getting long winded, here… My purpose was to tell you that I believe you are a wonderful writer, I enjoyed your book and plan to read them all (as soon as I can afford to). Also, it’s nice to see that you maintain your website and communicate with your fans. For what it’s worth, I think you deserve lots of kudos.
by Steph February 12th, 2010 at 7:25 pmWow, Steph, what a great comment and I’m so glad you stumbled across my books! The only other romance set in SD is Running With the Devil, the rest I moved to WY – however, the mysteries are set in SD and always will be…
Thanks so much for taking the time to post, what an awesome way to start my weekend!
by Lori Armstrong February 13th, 2010 at 9:50 amI love reading your books and I hope to have them all in print in the near future- I have them all as e books but it’s so much more fun having them in print.
by Moran February 13th, 2010 at 3:38 pmLori, Love all your books and series. Wishing we could see another Julie book! Your cowboys take me into another world, Thank God! I love the bad boys, Damon on Vampire Diaries, Sawyer on Lost.
My all time favorite line is of Yipee-ki-yay, Motherf***er from Die Hard! But for most part many of his lines in movies are funny to me.
I only seen the previews from Avatar, when I went to see New Moon. My son recommends the new Percy Jackson movie!!!
Well rest up, so you can get back in the game. Enjoy
