We Lost Two Good Ones

How tragic. We all knew Farrah was fighting a losing battle for her life. We knew after watching the gut wrenching Farrah’s Story that aired last month, she was not going to get batter, that it was just a matter of time before we lost her. I give Farrah huge props for allowing us into her life and sharing her struggle with us. I’ve always liked her, but as I watched her heroic battle I felt something more. A profound respect and admiration. She is a true heroine in my book.

May she finally rest in peace.

If you didn’t catch Farrah’s Story, I believe they are re-airing it tonight. Take two hours out of your busy day and watch it. You will be amazed.

I’m shocked and saddened by Michael Jackson’s death. He was the King of Pop. He was amazing. He was a dad, a son, and a brother. He was bigger than life. He was also such a tragic caricature of himself. I don’t want to think of him as Wacko Jacko or of the allegations he was a child molester. It’s funny, I’ve never thought of Michael as a man, but as a child. I want to remember him singing Thriller, or Billy Jean, or see that little boy who sang his heart out as the front man for The Jackson Five. I have so many Jackson Five songs on my iPod. Ben, Never Can Say Goodbye, I’ll Be There, ABC. I know the words to them all!

I’m going to remember Farrah as Charlie’s most beautiful angel, and Michael as one of Americas most cherished sons.

How about you? Do you think Farrah will be remembered for how far she came or will she always be Jill Monroe? And do you think America will think of Michael and his personal tragedies these last 10 years or will he forever be Thriller?

PS, sorry for the short post. The Bunko Babes were at my place last night, and the last of the group didn’t go home until almost 12:30. We were drinking, kibitzing, and just having some fun girl time. I’m tired, but Farrah and Michael have been on my mind.

A Cop’s Wife Writes the Cop’s Life: Award winning author, Karin Tabke isn’t just another author with steamy stories to tell, but a cop’s wife who has “seen it all and heard it all.” Some of the hottest stories come from behind the blue wall of law enforcement rather than from in front. Married to a street cop, now retired, Karin is intimate with both and proves it with her sizzling tales and hot cops. Not only are her cops hot, but so are her sexy knights. Karin’s Blood Sword Legacy series is a must read for anyone who loves tales of yore when men were men and women were women, and love did conqueror all!

I was in line at the drive-thru when the radio station announced Michael had died. They turned the next 2 hours into call-in requests of his songs.

It is sad that Farrah & Michael are gone. My heart goes out to their families and friends. They will be missed.

Holly, I was watching Fox news and saw on the ticker tape he had been taken to the hospital. I kind of shrugged it off as just another Michael/media thing. I wish it was.

It is such a great loss that a man with great talent like Michael Jackson dies. RIP King of POP

I am remembering them both as loved human beings first. The world was impacted, yes…but their family’s loss I’m sure is much deeper. My heart breaks for the ones they left behind. They both battled their own demons, losing their lives but gaining immortality through what they accomplished while they were here. Also, hopefully now they have peace.

Shannon, i keep thinking of farrah’s son redmond and what this will do to his already shaking willpower. how sad for her to die knowing her only child, a child she adored, was in jail.

as for michael’s family, as disjointed as they are, they have always supported each other. I really feel for them. his death is such a loss, for all of us.

Karin wasn’t yesterday weird? I never imagined that Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson would be forever linked this way.

Farrah lived her life her own way and I admire that. I saw her documentary and for days, it stayed with me. She had real courage and I will always remember her for that.

Michael was extremely talented and tormented.

I hope they both find peace. (For all the allegations–it’s out of our hands now. I don’t know the truth and I believe is a time to be respectful.)

I think with Extremities and The Burning Bed Farrah showed she was more than the blonde one on Charlie’s Angels. I choose to remember the Michael Jackson of my childhood. The one singing ABC with his brothers. I will remember him for his music and dazzling choreography and not for the ugliness that I hope we let just slip away.

LIke so many I watched Farrah, over the years, and had my Farrah doo, many years ago. I found her bravery to astounding facing what did. She is at rest now..
Michael Jackson, was something else. No matter what he did, it attracted attention. He was a true talent, that was often over shadowed by his constant plastic surgery and strange behavior. I too, think of him always as that adorable little boy singing on Ed Sullivan. As a youngman before he altered his looks, he was so handsome. We all thought that, but unfortunately he didn’t. I was shocked by his death, and saddened. He was so talented.

Lee, Michael was hawt until he started messing with his face. the last few nose jobs were really bad. no wonder he wore the mask. :( i wonder why any doctor would work on him? to say Michael Jackson was his patient? but then, they aren’t legally allowed to do that, confidentiality and all. sigh.

Hey Karin, very sad I agree. Thanks for the heads up, I definitely want to catch the Farrah show tonight. And I’ll remember Michael’s music and dance. I wish we didn’t have this make-believe world of celeb, and just appreciated everyone’s talents without the 24 hr news cycle that resembles Tabloid fodder. When did that get out of hand anyway? It would be a crazy world to survive in.

Farrah was a dignified and gracious lady up until the end and far more talented than many people give her credit for.

I was never much of a MJ fan (too old when he first danced on the scene) and while his public life and demons overshadowed his talent, I hope his soul has finally found peace.

I was not surprised when Farrah died, I had known she was sick. I hope that all of her suffering has ended. As far as Michael dying, I was floored. I still am. I know there were all kinds of hideous accusations thrown at him throughout his life and that was a shame, but I’ll always remember him as the MJ that put out Thriller. The King of Pop, the man that had us all trying the moonwalk, most of us in vain.

It’s been a sad week in Hollywood. May they all rest in peace. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.

Erika, my daughter and i just came back from lunch, and we were talking about Michael, his life his death. And we both are of the opinion, that he was grossly taken advantage of, not only by strangers, but by his employees, perhaps some family members, and most definitely by those whom he tried to help. I’m not saying there isn’t the possibility he did some things that were in poor taste, but he has never struck me as a deviant. Call me naive but I don’t think it was in his nature to hurt, whether intentional or not.

I feel more sad today than I did yesterday.

I have got a major case of the slows today! not even mass quantities of caffeine are helping!

It took a lot of courage for Farrah to let the world view her struggle at the end. I think that will be her legacy.
Michael Jackson was in a way a victim. He never really had a childhood and in a way never grew up. The Peter Pan analogy really does fit. I don’t think he was ever comfortable with himself and who he was. He was trying to create a world he could exist in and it wasn’t possible. He was a true talent with incredible musical ability. I’ll choose to remember him as the handsome young man he was in the mid 80’s when he was doing Thriller and Billy Jean.

  12. 12

Patricia, by all accounts, MJ was painfully shy. amazing how he could transform on stage. i’ve been watching so many video clips over the last day and night, and I am even more amazed by his talent.
such a sad loss. but yanno what? i think he was a lot more tortured than we knew, and finally, i think he is at rest.

  13. 13

I admire Farrah so much. She lived a life she thought was best for her, even if it included quitting Charlie’s Angels, the most popular show at the time. She was courageous up to the end.

As for MJ, I admire his talent. Like everyone else, I hope he’s at peace.
