I’m going to KOFY in the city, a San Francisco based cable channel to tape a segment! I along with Allison, Brenda Novak and Regan Taylor are going to be featured the week of Valentines Day!
I’m excited, and very nervous! We’ll be chatting a little bit about ourselves, our books and reading a few excerpts. Reading from my historicals is not a problem, but from my contemporaries? Yowza. Not so easy. KOFY might be cable but it’s PG-13 cable.
So, I have the excerpts picked out and have been practicing in front of the mirror. I have the outfit all picked out. I have the hairdo and the makeup picked out, and daughter #2 is coming along as my ‘assistant’. It’s supposed to rain, which means my hair is going to frizz and droop. But what the hell. I’m going to do it and hopefully not make a fool out of myself, and at the same time do romance writers everywhere proud.
I have to remember to smile, to look at the camera, and not to slouch! No slouching allowed. No saying, um, and no deer in the headlights look. I wish hubby were going with me. He always makes me laugh when I’m nervous, but he can’t make it. So it’s me and the kid and Allison, Brenda and Regan.
Keep your fingers crossed I don’t completely eff up. And just in case I have time to read comments before I leave, any helpful tips? Pleeeeezzzzzz….
Ciao!

by Debra Webb February 6th, 2009 at 5:55 amWhatever you do, don’t picture anyone naked. Unless one of them is a gorgeous hottie. Or you need a really good laugh.
Main thing is, take a deep breath, relax, and have fun. Good luck, Karin. Break a leg and pass that on to Allison, Brenda, and Regan!
by Silver James February 6th, 2009 at 6:00 amDitto on the have fun. And since hubby can’t be there, put him on the other side of the camera and talk to him.

by Edie February 6th, 2009 at 8:26 pmHey, Everyone! I had a blast! And I didn’t make a total ass out of myself, although for my first segment I flubbed my lines and called, “Cut!” OMG, I thought the producer was going to have a kitten. I guess they don’t do retakes. But he was a good sport about it. Everyone was great, easy going and so very friendly. The hostess Azuma who interviewed me made cookies. I really enjoyed myself, and next time, I want to be the one in the interview chair!
As soon as we get the feeds, I’ll post them.
Ciao for now, I have to go write!
