BLOOD MAGIC is coming out in just over five weeks. I am so jazzed that I have this chance to write a dark and sexy paranormal series. While I’ve enjoyed writing all my books, this series has a special place in my heart. Of course, I worry if readers will like the book. I won’t really know that until the book is out and feedback comes in. But I got my first advance review this week: In the March 2009 issue, Romantic Times Magazine says, “Witchcraft, magic and dark curses take on a new twist in Lyon’s action-packed series launch.” They gave the book 4 ½ stars!

I am thrilled!

To celebrate the launch of BLOOD MAGIC, I’m doing a five week special promotion at my blog website of http://jenniferlyonbooks.com/. It begins today, Monday, January 19th and goes through February 20th. Each weekend, I will randomly draw one winner’s name from that week’s comments and announce the winner on the blog.

The prizes will be:

Week 1 (January 19-23) $20.00 gift card to Barnes & Noble

Week 2 (January 26-30) Candle set with $15.00 Starbucks Card

Week 3 (February 2-6) Peace, Hope and Serenity Bracelet

Week 4 (February 9-13) Box of Paranormal Books

Week 5 (February 16-20) CHARMED; Season Three DVD Set

Then, on the official release date of BLOOD MAGIC, February 24th, I will draw one name from ALL the comments over the five weeks for the Grand Prize: A Celtic Knot Centerpiece Necklace with a Rainbow Moonstone! You can see a picture of the necklace on the websitehttp://jenniferlyonbooks.com/ .

On Thursday, January 22nd, my good friend, Maureen Child will blogging at Jenniferlyonbooks.com. Maureen has written over a 100 books…no seriously, she has! Her latest book is the paranormal romp, BEDEVILED. This book is wildly fun and wickedly sexy as the intrepid MAGGIE DONOVAN is ripped out of her normal life and thrust into a fierce battle with the faery queen to save the worlds. The sexy part comes in the form of a sizzling hot faery-warrior named Cullen.

And then, two weeks from today here at Murder She Writes on February 2nd, I’m having guest blogger, Kate Carlisle . She has a brand new mystery series coming out (4 ½ stars from RT too!)HOMICIDE IN HARDCOVER, the first in her new bibliophile mystery series. Word on the street is that this book if FABULOUS! Come back two weeks from today and say hi to Kate!

You’ve listened to my promotion stuff, so it’s your turn! Promote yourself, your blog, your book, your favorite author, your favorite book…whatever you want (keep it clean people!).

As I type this, there were no comments, so I have an ‘itchy’ feeling about being first. Do I look greedy? Too eager for a chance for some BSP?

But this is the window in today’s schedule, so …

My newest book, WHEN DANGER CALLS, was just favorably reviewed in Orlando Magazine. The book is hard cover. Best deal — ask your library to order it. The publisher targets that market, so it’s a win-win. I look good, and you can read the book for free.

And HIDDEN FIRE,the sequel to Finding Sarah, is scheduled for print release in time for RT. That book was a winner in the Night Owl Reader’s Choice Awards.

As for reading, right now I’m dealing with RITA entries. But I’ve recently discovered Lee Child and John Sandford and am fascinated with the ‘not-very-likeable protagonist.

And on my blog, I’ve begun a sort of sporadic “series” called “Homicide – Hussey” — one of the local homicide detectives has been sharing his stories with me, and has given me permission to post them on my blog.

And maybe by the time I hit ‘submit’ someone else will be first.

Terry, I’ve replied to you, but I can’t seem to get it out of moderation. AOL is giving me a hard time this morning.

If the comment shows up, just blame it on me. I’m having a Monday Kind Of Morning.

Anyway–being first is good! I went over to your blog and love the Homicide Hussey series!

Glad you’re liking my blog, Jen. For some reason I couldn’t load internet pages, although my email was working fine, so I was connected, and got to read responses but couldn’t get to the blog sites.

Mark Hussey will be back, for sure.

Yay, Jennifer and Terry! Good luck on your new releases. FIND ME is out, too!

*sighs* *adds more books to the impossibly long I WANT list* Wow, Jen! Thanks for this opportunity. I blog on my site, Penumbra and run monthly contests. Winners are randomly chosen from all commenters. The more they comment, the better the chance of winning. January’s prize is a signed copy of Andrea Picken’s The Spy Wore Silk. Monday blogs are the “Armchair Reader” – thoughts on what I’m currently reading. Wednesday and Friday are thoughts on writing, getting published, promotion, and life. Sunday Sinema is just for fun – sometimes silly, sometimes sexy, sometimes both – videos. February’s contest is a $25.00 gift certificate to The Good Works Store. I haven’t thought far enough ahead to March.

I don’t have a release date for my book, Faerie Fate yet. I have received my cover art and I love it. A time-travel paranormal with shades of reincarnation, Becca, 21st century woman is sent back by the Tuatha de Danaan to 10th century Ireland to get love right the first time. It’s the first novel in my Tir Nan Og trilogy. Fate is my first sale and I’m excited and scared spitless all at the same time.

Thanks again for the opportunity to *pimp* *cough* promote, Jen!

Silver, well, darn, I wish I’d thought to call this blog Pimp Your Books, LOL!

I love the title of your books FAIRIE FATE! If I saw it in a bookstore, the title would entice me to pick it up.

      • 3.1.1

Thanks! I hope it does well. Obviously. LOL. I like the story but then…like…duh! I’d better, huh? And you can use the Pimp subject line the next time.

        • 3.1.1.1

Silver, it’s so nerve wracking having a book come out! We love them, but if we don’t get the word out, others won’t know to buy it so they can love it too!

          • I’m not sure which is/was worse – waiting for the first sale or waiting for a release date and the actual release. I’m taking crash courses in all sorts of things – working with an editor and publisher, promotion, time-management for WIPs and preproduction on current project, networking, promotion…Did I mention promotion? lol

Seriously though, I’m learning a lot from established writers and blogs like these. Thanks for sharing your expertise and experiences. (That goes to all you wonderful *She who writes murder* here.)

Jen, so cool! I bet you are so excited, and your Jennifer Lyon site is awesome! I can’t wait to read this book!

Thanks Natalie! It’s sort of surreal since I first had this idea WAY back in 2005. Not sure you remember, but I was bouncing the idea off you way back then. And boy, the idea has gone through some serious changes since then!

I’m going to go broke reading this blog. ;)

My next one’s not out ’til June, so I’m going to pimp Deb’s FIND ME–I just started it and damn, I see another late night, squeezing in writing time between awesome chapters.

I just finished TWO other books of fellow MSWs (I am going to blog about those a little closer to their release dates) and NOW I’m going to HAVE to go get Jen’s book–that sounds like something I’d really love.

  6. 6

I can’t wait to read it. I’m sure I’ll love it, just like your other books. Congrats!

  7. 7

Hey Jen, thanks for the plug! I guess I won’t have to do my own promo today. Well, except that I’ll mention Romance Bandits, my very fun blog I share with 19 other wild and crazy authors. I’m hoping you’ll visit us next month during your virtual book tour. :-)

And I’m so looking forward to visiting MSW in a few weeks!! Thanks so much for inviting me!

And wow, I love your hot new website! I’d better run over there and comment so I can win some cool stuff!

Hey Kate, you know how excited I am about your new series! It’s going to be a hit! And I’m dying to read Homicide In Hardcover. Two people whose opinions I trust read advance copies and RAVED about it.

And heck yeah, Romance Bandits is fun and super friendly!

I’m so excited for you, Jen! Be sure I’ll pick up a copy.
