I don’t know about you all, but I’m still wiped out from the holidays and a lingering cold. So I thought I’d keep things simple on this last Monday of the year. :grin:

* What was your most unexpected gift?
– Frosty the Snowman velour pjs from my hubby
* Did you get your heart’s desire this year?
– I really only wanted a toaster oven and hubby got me one.
* Did you get any books? Care to share?
– No books for me this year.
* Did you give any books this year?
– Yes, The Writing Diet, for my mom who’s always wanted to write a book AND lose weight.
* Favorite part of your holiday meal?
– sweet potato casserole
* Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?
– kinda, sorta. Still working on it.
* What are most looking forward to in 2009?
– having some time off.

    Good morning, Sylvia! Drink hot tea with lemon and a touch of whiskey–if it doesn’t help, you won’t care after the second one! :-)
    Answers:
    –Nickelback tickets (I think it’s been over 20 years since I went to a concert!)
    –handblender (I burned out the last one)
    –no books rec’d
    –gave kiddo Judy Moody and Junie B books
    –chocolate caramel tart (yeah, I made it, but it was way yummy!)
    –working on my writing resolutions, but this year I MUST exercise (I hate being fat. We did get a family Wii with Wii fit. Once I pry hubby and kiddo away from MarioKart–I’ll be testing it out.)
    –a new writing start. I’m veering away from writing romance and concentrating on UF and PB
    –finally got rid of mine (I got it before Halloween!)

    “He Went To Jared”

    Did you get your heart’s desire?
    “That he bought those ‘special’ gifts (see above) even though we’d said we weren’t going to exchange ‘special’ gifts this year.”

    “I bought some for me from The Mystery Guild: Face of a Killer – Robin Burcell; Show No Mercy & Take No Prisoners – Cindy Gerard”

    Did you give any books this year?
    “Amazon gift certificates with the ‘hint’ they be used for my books”

    Favorite part of your holiday meal?
    “Rugelach – tried a new variation (Our holiday meal is not a feast — just latkes one night.)”

    Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?
    “Goals, not resolutions, and only vague at this point.”

    What are most looking forward to in 2009?
    “Watching my grandson grow”

    “No.”

    I got a nice phone call from my grandson in the Marines.
    I got a new fancy coffee maker I wanted.
    No books, a B&N card though.
    I didn’t give any books.

    I got very sick with a lung infection right before Christmas…Doing better now.

    iPod

    Did you get your heart’s desire?

    yes, my oldest son and his wife were able to be home for Christmas and we’d spent the previous weekend with my youngest son and his family. all good

    Did you get any books? Care to share?

    got gift certificates, which is safer–they’d have a hard time keeping up with my book purchases. ;)

    Did you give any books this year?

    Quite a few, actually.

    Favorite part of your holiday meal?

    the cornbread dressing Carl made.

    Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?

    I don’t really do NY’s resolutions.

    What are most looking forward to in 2009?

    sleep. ;)

    What was your most unexpected gift?
    –A letter from my oldest daughter.

    Did you get your heart’s desire?
    –No, because my husband doesn’t listen to my oldest daughter who knows exactly what I wanted for three years in a row and has tried everything from subtle to blunt to tell him.

    Did you get any books? Care to share?
    –No, but I gave a lot of books away!

    Did you give any books this year?
    –Yes, many, many books. All kids, husband, mom and friends.

    Favorite part of your holiday meal?
    –Family all together.

    Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?
    –I don’t do resolutions.

    What are most looking forward to in 2009?
    –Writing the supernatural series. One more book and then I get to start it!

    Did you catch a cold, too?
    –In November. Airborne airborne airborne.

    Unexpected gift: a porcelain Christmas angel from my daughter, which made me cry because she doesn’t realize how she singlehandedly brought Christmas spirit to our home.

    Get books? No, and I want them!

    Give books? Tons

    Fave part of meal: The whole Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve, most especially the clams oreganato. Yum!

    NY Ressies: Not yet, but I’m on deadline, so my first one will be to finish the dang book.

    Anticipating in 2009: every single day.

    Catch a cold: not yet, knock wood!

    I’m really boring but here goes:

    What was your most unexpected gift?
    This year I pretty much got what I asked for. I was most surprised by a red robe from my son.

    Did you get your heart’s desire?
    Yep, all my kids were home for Christmas! My boys are young men now, and they are buildling their own lives. I know I won’t always have them home on Christmas morning, so this year was even more special.

    Did you get any books? Care to share?
    No.

    Did you give any books this year?
    Yes! Two of my sons asked for books!

    Favorite part of your holiday meal?
    Being together for sure! And how much my husband helped me by doing dishes and other grunt work. And of course, all the chocolate!

    Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?
    I suppose, but I consider them more promises to myself :-)

    What are most looking forward to in 2009?
    Off the top of my head, I’d say BLOOD MAGIC and SOUL MAGIC coming out.

    Did you catch a cold, too?
    No! I haven’t had a cold a long time!

    My mom got me a really awesome ceramic Marilyn Monroe coffee mug that reads Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History

    Not this year, my father in law just passed away a week or so before Christmas so this year was a tough one.

    I did get books. I got Have Yourself a Naughty Little Santa by Karen Tabke, Lucky Charm by Carly Phillips and a replacement copy of Lover Eternal by JR Ward (never loan out your favorite books)

    Did you give any books this year?
    Yes, to my daughter, my son, my husband and my mom

    Favorite part of your holiday meal?
    Having all of my husband’s siblings with us.

    Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?
    I don’t make resolutions anymore

    What are most looking forward to in 2009?
    I’m not sure yet . . .

    No, thank goodness, but I did suffer a sinus infection.

    Yes, I survived my deadlines.

    Nope.

    Did you give any books this year?
    Yes, I gave my oldest son Marley and Me and a few other titles that escape me at the moment.

    Favorite part of your holiday meal?
    Not having to clean the kitchen.

    Some, not all, but my biggest resolution is no more procrastination…

    What are most looking forward to in 2009?
    Not exactly sure, but I have a lot of excitement and anticipation.

    Nope, germs are afraid of me.

    A gift certificate for Williams-Sonoma (I didn’t know my daughter had it in her!)

    Did you get your heart’s desire?
    Ditto to Karin’s–I survived my revision deadline!

    Nope but I got a gift certificate for a Honey-Baked ham!

    Did you give any books this year?
    Yes, I gave advance reader copies of Find Me to some of my good friends (they asked!).

    Favorite part of the holiday meal?
    Buying the dressing already made!

    Have you made your New Year’s resolutions yet?
    LOSE WEIGHT!!!!!

    What are you most looking forward to in 2009?
    Finishing my house renovations and going to RT and RWA conferences!

    Thankfully no.

    An afghan from my mother

    I received everything I asked for, btw Duffy’s Rockferry well, rocks.

    I received no books, but I did receive an Amazon gift card, and it’s from a writer, so really books are a must… Hallelujah!
    Did you give any books this year?
    No, but I did give Barnes and Noble gift cards, does that count?
    Favorite part of your holiday meal?
    family, and I don’t mind the clean up as long as I get candied sweet potatoes

    I’m reinstating last year’s…maybe I can make it this time.

    Really, is world peace too much to ask for?

    No, I swear by Airborne, never wash my coffee or tea cups, and I refuse to use disinfectant cleaning products… just saying.
