My little brother LOVED Sea Hunt, and as far as I'm concerned, Lloyd Bridges nearly died every week, which turned me off anything remotely resembling SCUBA diving. I did finally get up the nerve to snorkel while we were in the Caribbean, but only on the surface. But I did climb Ayers Rock in Australia, and did some sea kayaking in Friday Harbor, and did some game drives in South Africa. However, we slept in nice hotels every night. I was more adventuous when I was younger, but never had the opportunity. Back then, my biggest "adventure" was being stuck in an airport for about 5 hours with my 3 little kids waiting for a mechanical issue with a plane to be solved. Definitely NOT anything under water.
