The Contest Witch

Halloween is almost here. I’ve always thought Halloween was the coolest holiday. It’s the one day you can be anything you want.

I always wanted to be a witch. Anyone who has read my bio on my website knows the story. I loved BEWITCHED. I loved Samantha.

And for the record, Jeannie annoyed the crap out of me. First off, unless I’m training in Tae Kwon Do, I’m not calling some man master.

Ugh.

Secondly, she lived in a bottle. A freaking bottle. Isn’t that what we say about alcoholics? They live in the bottle? Go to AA, Jeanie, grow a spine, and stop calling men master!

Now Samantha was one cool witch. Darwood, oops, sorry, I mean, Darrin, THOUGHT he was running the show. That he was in charge. That Samantha did whatever he said.

That poor fool.

Samantha and her scary mom Endora ran the show! They just let Darrin think that because it kept Darrin busy and out of the way.

Uber cool.

Plus Samantha did awesome magic.

I so totally wanted to be a witch. And on Halloween I got to be one. The best witch ever!

And now, even better, I get to write about witches! See all that imaging on Halloween paid off! And to all those teachers who claimed that I day dreamed my way through school, and that I’d never amount to anything because daydreaming is a waste of time?

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Okay, yeah, I’ve probably had too much coffee. Sorry.

Here on MSW, I’ve decided that for Halloween, I want to be The Contest Witch. To celebrate the release of my latest Brava book EXTREMELY HOT; I’m asking a question in the paragraph below, and I’ll randomly choose two answers in the comments to win a signed copy of EXTREMELY HOT and a $10.00 Barnes and Noble Gift Card. You can comment all week until midnight Friday, and I’ll announce the two winners Saturday on the blog.

What is the one thing you always wanted (or still want) to be for Halloween?

Good Luck!

Award winning author, Jennifer Lyon, always wanted to be a witch. Since her witch-powers never materialized, she went onto Plan B and now she creates magic in her books. In her new series, the author of the acclaimed Samantha Shaw Mystery Series (written as Jennifer Apodaca) introduces the Witch Hunters, legendary men who must overcome a curse to team up with witches and fight evil.

I always wanted to be Princess Leia. She was so sexy. I could never pull off the flat tummy BUT I always wanted to try.

  2. 2

Hi Jennifer–oh good one! I know my husband thinks Princess Leia was sexy!

  3. 3

Well mine is from Star Wars also. I wanted to be a female Jedi Knight. I didn’t want them to have to save me every time, I wanted to kick some butt too. Also, I wanted to look sexy in all black.

  4. 4

I WAS Princess Leia. Fourth grade. My mom braided my long hair and wrapped it around my ears. It was perfect.

Maybe it’s un-PC but I always wanted to wear one of those sexy french maid costumes or sheer belly dancing costumes. Just didn’t seem appropriate for grade school and it’s always too damned cold in Oregon during Halloween.

  5. 5

Holly, you’d make an awesome female Jedi Knight :-)

Kendra, I always wanted to wear the belly dancing costume too. Halloween’s not supposed to be PC…

  6. 6

it would be to dress up as a vixen and meet someone hot.

  7. 7

I dressed up as a nun one year. That has to be my favorite…..

  8. 8

i was always a gypsy. something about wearing thigh high leather boots…

  9. 9

I always wanted to be Wonder Woman but I was usually a witch :)

  10. 10

I would love to dress up as an historical figure, either Cleopatra or Marie Antoinette.

My son was Luke Skywalker last year, and he’s Luke Skywalker this year. He told me on Saturday when I left to speak to a library, “May the force be with you.” Hmm, maybe he IS watching too much Star Wars. And reading. He had to pick a chapter book to read for school and, surprise, he picked a Star Wars book so he can be Luke Skywalker for his storybook character dress-up day.

He wants to be a Jedi Knight when he grows up. He gets mad when I call him a Padawin. I’m the master Jedi, I tell him, until he can support himself, and he’s my padawin.

Anyway, I don’t like Halloween. Sorry :( . . . All those evil spirits trying to get out . . . but I do love Samantha from BEWITCHED. Especially how she cleans the house with a twitch of the nose. I tried to do that when I had to clean my room as a kid. It never worked.

OOO good question! Hmmm..I’ve been looking online at costumes even though I’m not dressing up. I love fairies with the big pretty wings, so that is one thing I would love to dress up as. Also I once saw a Rainbow Brite costume that was really cute. And of course, I aspire to dress completely slutty, but I couldn’t pull it off…lol. If I had somewhere to go, I would love to be a fairy with wings and all. :) Great contest by the way Contest Witch! :)

Kim h–that sounds like an opening scene from a book :-)

    Natalie–you? A nun? LOL!

Karin–thigh high leather boots totally work on you!

Wendy–that wonder woman costume looks painful!

Marueen– I dressed up as Cleopatra once.

Allison– the nose twitching thing never worked for me either. You don’t have to love Halloween :-)

Rachael Ohhh, a fairy sounds fun! I bet the Rainbow Brite was adorable. I think Halloween is an excellent time to dress slutty if that’s your wish. I did a time or two as my husband encouraged it :-)

I always wanted to be a cheerleader when I was younger. Now if I was to dress up I would like to dress up as Catfighter. Here is the link for the picture. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r11/readingissomuchfun/catfight-d.jpg

Love this costume. Very sexy. Only if I had the body like her though LoL.

    Hugssss
    LindaH

  15. 15

What I would love to dress up as, is Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Simply divine and delightful.

  16. 16

    Hi Jennifer,
I would totally do slutty if I lost some weight first. Noone wants to see a chubby slut. LOL I found the Rainbow Brite costume online that I was looking at. If I lost some weight and could pull it off, this would be my costume! It’s REALLY cute. :) Scroll down to make sure you see the cute socks and shoes, to see the whole outfit. :)

I wanted to be the fairy godmother with magical powers who would grant everyone’s wishes.

  18. 18

This year I am dressing up as Anne of Green Gables. It should look great! Love the simple old fashioned girl look.

  19. 19

I loved the other characters in Bewitched Uncle Arthur and Bunny Rabbit, Endora, Esmeralda, and Aunt Clara. I loved the family they created. One year I dressed up as Serena (Black wig, heart shape on my cheek, and an extremely short mini shirt with black fishnet stockings.) The next year I went as Cher in sparkely lycra with a cut out belly button.

Oh for the day when showing my skin wasn’t obscene or illegal.

  20. 20

I have always imagined dressing up as Peter Pan. The ability to fly away and become someone else who can transform their world.

  21. 21

    LindaH, very sexy costume!

    Ruth, Dorothy is a classic.

Rachael, those socks! They look fab on the thin, but I have HUGE calves. Always have. But come on, I bet it’d look great on you!

Dru, ohhh, I like that one!

  22. 22

    Diane, another good choice!

Cele, I loved Unlce Arthur, he always cracked me up. You dressed up as Serena? Love it!

Elle, Peter Pan touches the child in all o fus :-)

  23. 23

Sigh…Sorry Elle, I meant “all of us.”

  24. 24

I loved dressing up for Halloween as a Playboy bunny because that was sooooo not me. It’s fantasy time to play.

  25. 25

I always wanted to be a Go-go girl. I’d wear a short little hot pink and yellow fringe skirt with a mini bra type top, white tall boots and a hot pink headband on my head. Oh, and I’d have to put on bright pink lipstick and big round earrings, too. Then I’d go from door to door and shake, shake, shake. lol

  26. 26

Kim, too cute! Love the idea!

Jen, no, I dont have skinny legs either! LOL I love those socks though on Rainbow Brite. Simply adorable. What are you going to be for Halloween? Oh and I used to love watching Bewitched too, on reruns! Great show. I love witchy shows. Sabrina and Charmed are great too. Does anyone remember Out of this World with the girl who could freeze time with her hands? That was WAY before Charmed. I remember thinking how cool that would be to be able to freeze time and my brother and I would pretend we could. The other person would have to freeze if we did the two fingers together thing to freeze time. Love witchy shows. I should be a witch. LOL

  27. 27

I always wanted to be a princess… but no go. When I was trick-or-treating, mom had four of us to make costumes for ~ I’m amazed at what she did managed to do!! And one year my mom turned my younger sister into the cutest little witch… I was soooo jealous. I did grow out of that stage though… I DID… really!

What a fun blog… so glad that my kids are finally out of the halloween costume stage.

  28. 28

    thanks all. yeah i would.

  29. 29

my daughter has been a princess for 5 years running – ever since she was old enough to pick her own costume. When i was her age i was a my little pony inspired unicorn.

I’ve always wanted to do a full on renaissance costume. that or Jessica Rabbit (from roger rabbit) – but i don’t have the cleavage or the hair to pull that off.

  30. 30

I was Princess Leia one year in grade school. My mom braided my hair and spun it up in big buns on the side of my head. It was fun. I had a flashlight with a pumpkin face on the end of it for my light saber. (Did Leia have a light saber?)

I would just like to be able to find a cool costume in a plus size. Not some slutty night time nurse. Who wants a fat night time nurse????

  31. 31

    Happy Halloween everyone! :)

  32. 32

Happy Halloween to your Racael and everyone else! I am reading all these comments, I just ran out of steam for answering! Be sure to come back on Saturday to MSW to see who the two winners are! (Man I am so glad I’m choosing randomly, I couldn’t pick otherwise!)

  33. 33
